Statue of the Abduction of Proserpina from different angles
This Statue of the Abduction of Proserpina intertwining and wrestling with each other can be interpreted in three different ways when viewed from three different directions. From the left, Pluto holds Proserpine firmly and holds her up. And the maiden is trying to break free from his bondage. Seen from the front, the entire sculpture appears to be that of Pluto showing off his prize and taking her into the underworld. On Proserpine’s face, seen from the right, are the tears of her prayer to heaven, the wind blowing her hair, and at her feet, the three-headed dog Cerberus, who guards the gates of Hell, is growling. We also have many other Roman statues for you to choose from.
